Digital Painting

Clone Yourself! Project Outline

Objectives:

Use the digital camera to obtain photos of yourself, pick the three best images for the project.

Use Painter Classic to alter these images in an intentional and creative way to create a Clone Yourself! Triptych.

Photo Shoot (refer to your Planner)

Remember: each image of yourself must show a particular facial expression to convey an aspect of yourself.

Begin Cloning!

Open image file in Painter Classic.

Go to File menu item: Clone Source: select your image file.

Find out height and width of image:
Go to Canvas menu item: Canvas Size, and make note of current size of image.

Create New File. Make it the same size as your image file.

Begin Cloning.
Use Cloners brush to reveal the image of yourself in your document. Keep in mind the expressive objectives of this particular image.

Grow your canvas: Add canvas to create additional background space for painting.
Go to Canvas menu item: Canvas Size: Adjust Size, add at least 50 pixels to top, left and right, click OK.

Continue painting, adding elements that support your emotions and ideas expressed in this image until you feel that you have completed this image.

Clone yourself two more times!

Repeat process in two other images, keeping in mind the different emotions and ideas that you are expressing in these images.

Clone Yourself! Portrait Planner

 

Each image of yourself must show a particular facial expression to convey an aspect of yourself.

Looking at the three images together, describe the similarities and differences between them in terms of visual elements and principles.
